For a while I had a family of mourning doves that came to my window. Because of covid, I had to cheapen the bird seed I gave them and it had a lot less sunflower seed in it, which I guess was their favorite. I haven't seen those birds since July and it kind of makes me sad. I saw about 3 generations in their time with me and their cooing would wake me up at about 8am everyday. Now I sleep till noon because my birdy alarm clock left for better seed elsewhere. (And the borough started cutting the tress by the road which so happen to be the trees they nested in.) I just want that druid vibe, you know?

Raccoons are omnivores, which means they eat meat and plants. Indeed, they will eat most things they can get their paws on, including bugs, fish, fruits, vegetables, and edibles from human trash bins like pizza crusts and crackers.

I'm the person in every neighborhood I have ever lived in that feeds animals. I don't discriminate lol. I'll feed local cats, dogs, raccoons (one house we lived in 20 or more would regularly come up to the house especially in winter but they weren't as chonnnky), opossums (actually nursed one from ittttty bitty to adult once because he had a bum leg and just needed a little extra help), squirrels (they LOVE peanut butter sammiches), the lone Rat that I see randomly, birds (the cardinals especially in the spring)deer, turkeys, armadillos, and whatever else comes around. I don't overdo it, I just help em a bit but don't make it so they totally rely on me. I do a little more in the winter months because this is a neighborhood and I like to keep the animals coming around here when they're hungry rather than into another yard or trash can where they run the risk of eating poison or being hurt or killed. My favorite part is when the animals give you that look of "Hey! Thanks man!"

James is the nicest guy that you could ever hope to meet. Retired RCMP. He came home on day and there was a raccoon on the couch curled up with his mother-in-law. She thought it was the cat. True story.

Jim is one special guy. As you probably hear before he's been doing this for over 20 Years. His wife started to feed them and before she passed away she asked him to continue the task. He was hesitant in the beginning and then eventually he got the hang of it. They are not his pets. They are wild raccoons. They come and go as they want. He feeds them most of the year and anybody is welcome to the deck (AKA Jim's Diner) They eat as much as they can before the winter arrives and there will be no food around ( I suspect Jim still put some food out just in case somebody shows up 😜) He has A LOT OF FOLLOWERS from all over the world (me included) and we all wait every night for a new video. He loves the raccoons and they love him back 100%

The reason his followers are commenting here is because Jim thought your video was great, and that we should come see it. Jim lives in Nova Scotia, Canada. That video shot Jim from about 30K subscribers to 394K in a month! We all love Jim. He's the kindest, most humble, caring human on the planet. The raccoons in this video were mostly all born in the Spring. The mothers know the babies are safe with Jim, so they actually leave them, once they're weaned. The one on his shoulder called Buddy is hilarious. He grabs Jim by the jacket and hauls him back, then he climbs on his shoulder. Jim makes him kiss his cheek, before he gets his hotdog LOL. The reason they hold their heads up, when they eat the grapes is so they don't lose the juice. And they break the cookies apart to get to the cream center. When they eat the dog kibble, it sounds like rain on a roof! There's one little guy (the runt of all the litters) named Scooter. He is just precious. When Jim comes out to feed them, he climbs up Jim's leg and hangs on, until Jim sits down. He takes his hot dog and runs for a corner, and a couple minutes later, he comes back for another one. He actually hordes them in his corner to make sure he gets lots. Once you've been watching awhile, you'll get to know them by name - they all have their own personalities. People watch the videos, because they're calming, relaxing, adorable and funny. We all need that in our lives, especially this year! Yeah, you need to watch more of his videos. LOL

Believe it or not someone actually complained about him feeding the racoons and it is so upsetting. A government official actually showed up to his house a few days ago and he posted about it. Why in the world in this awful 2020 year would someone complain about this sweet old man?!?! My grandpa never got in trouble for putting out bird seed....y'all go show Mr. Blackwood some love he is an awesome AM-postsr he does all his own video editing and everything...he will not even accept fans sending him donations because he says him and the racoons have enough. That just shows how wholesome and great he is.

My favourite one was when he forgot to wear jeans with a belt and had sweats on and as soon as he came out his door the racoons were climbing up his legs pulling LOL his sweat pants down LMMO ( laughing my mask off ) you couldn't see anything it was off camera but you could hear Mr. Blackwood asking the racoons to stop LOLOLOL & another time he was trying to count how many there were and kept asking the racoons to sit still for a minute so he could count them LOL .

My ex FIL used to bake plain cakes for the racoon family that lived on his property. They were sp spoiled.

There’s a girl I know who’s family had a pet raccoon. Well she was a baby the raccoon got in her crib and started attacking her/eating her. She ended up being taken away from her parents because they didn’t want to get rid of it. And now have severe facial scars.

He might be from Halifax MA, I noticed his Bruins shirt in the kitchen. We have some pretty chill raccoons here in Mass, I have a few in my yard that are OBSESSED with us because we throw out produce cuttings and other food waste in the garden (because compost) and they know exactly when to come by. They'll even let us get close... Not gonna lie now I wanna start actually feeding them and see what happens.

Imagine the next person to live here after him wondering why all the raccoons in the woods keep coming to their house every night in a giant group and reaching out to the people expecting to be fed
