Hey kids, think about what you're watching. This took years and experience to learn. There will never be an app on your phone to take care of problems like this and I really can't imagine there being a way to dredge lakes and ponds other than with these machines. Same goes for building roads, bridges, buildings etc. Respect these people and realize we need them in this wold every day. The credit they get is mostly passed around amongst themselves as people that understand the work and how hard it is. Nobody blabbers on about what heroes they are, but they show up every day in the cold, in the rain, when their dog dies, when they don't feel good. Respect them and consider joining them. You won't get rich, but you'll learn to respect yourself. You'll meet people you can actually count on and offer some real respect to.

I know I am dating myself but whatever happened to drag-line excavators? I have seen them used to excavate ponds and along rivers before and it would seem advantageous to have something that can sit on the bank and reach out over the mud and lift it out and into a truck without the machine itself ever getting into pond until the mud is removed and only to get the mud that is out of its initial reach.

The machines are a lot more fluid now too, which makes it so much easier. The controls on the newer machines is incredible . I only have a bobcat , but I can imagine it being the same , the longer you’re in it , it just feels like you’re moving your arms. It becomes very natural .
